Catahoula Leopard Dog - Bit-o-honey - Medium - Young - Female
Information: 6/27/13: Honey is a year old catahoula leopard dog. She was abused as a puppy and because of this she is fearful of strangers and men. Once she knows you she warms up quickly to you with kisses and tail wags. Honey loves to play with other dogs no matter what size they are, big or mall doesn't matter to Honey. Honey is just a little girl who is approximately 27-30 lbs. She is small and will not grow any larger. She is very athletic and loves to play in our fenced in yard with our other dogs an foster dogs. Honey currently lives with two teenage boys who she loves to play with. Because of her size she makes the perfect lap dog. Honey will come over and snuggle into my lap and give me kisses as I pet her. She is still learning basic commands. Honey knows some commands. But a family that could take her to basic obedience classes would be best for Honey. Since she still needs to freshen up on her learning techniques. Honey had surgery to remove her one eye that was blind and injured. Honey does have one good eye. Even with one eye Honey can navigate around things very quickly with minimal problems. Occasionally she will accidentally bump into something she didn't see. She is a very loving little girl. Who is shy at first, but once she gets t know you the tail never stops wagging. She is very smart and love to learn. Now that it is warmer out Honey like to jump in the dog pool and splash around a bit to cool off. Before she runs off again to play with her dogie friends. If you are looking for a smaller size, female, catahoula leopard dog, with energy to play with other dogs. Who just loves to hang out with her humans, Honey is your girl. She loves to go for car rides, walks or just laying on the couch cuddling with you. She also enjoys dog toys, dogie pools, bubbles, other dogs, people and food. Honey is very food motivated and would also make a very good agility dog. 1/6/14: I think it is in the best interest of Honey to be adopted by a home who has a fenced in yard. The reason being is her safety. With only one eye she does not have depth perception, without a fence she could get lost very quickly and get hurt. If she gets startled suddenly she could dart off and be gone in a blink of an eye. At least with a fenced in yard she will not be able to run off if she gets startled. However she is smart and quick. So the owners must be alert and make sure Honey can't sneak out doors, gates, open windows, etc. in her new home. She has been with us for a year now, since she was a puppy. She was abused by her previous owner and is shy around strangers (especially men) until she gets to know them. She can get startled around loud noises. She loves children. Honey thinks she is a lap dog and loves to cuddle with you. She also loves other dogs and she can run very very fast while playing outside with the other dogs. I do not have cats so I do not know how she would be around cats. She also has problems navigating steps because of her having one eye and no depth perception. The new adopter would have to make sure that Honey could not fall into things like buckets, holes in the ground, down basement steps, pools, ponds, off the bed, etc because of her eye sight/depth problem. No known problems with Honey other than she might pee if she is startled or scared by a stranger approaching her. She will try and run away to hide from strangers and she is very quick. When Honey is with me and a stranger approaches her she tries to climb in my lap to hide. But once the stranger pets her and talks to Honey she likes it and lays down for belly rubs. If Honey sees another dog she perks up immediately as she loves to play with any type of dog big or small. Honey is also use to a home that is some what calm and not a lot of people moving around making noise. My boys are ages 18 & 21. She likes to go for car rides and walks. 6/27/13: Honey is a year old catahoula leopard dog. She was abused as a puppy and because of this she is fearful of strangers and men. Once she knows you she warms up quickly to you with kisses and tail wags. Honey loves
